Welcome to West Oakville
West Oakville was developed between the 1940's and the early 1970's, spreading east from Bronte and west from the Kerr Village area. The majority of homes are bungalows, storey and a half, or side and back splits - as these were the predominant styles in vogue at the time. There are some small subdivisions east of Fourth Line of two storey homes. Throughout West Oakville, the large lots are attracting redevelopment with smaller homes torn down and replaced with larger homes and this trend will continue. The community is also attracting young families wanting a larger lot and willing to renovate the older detached homes.
The Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, located on a large former high school site, offers a wide variety of programs that are a major draw for the area. The private Oakville Christian School is located on Third Line in a former public school. The neighbourhood has quick access to the Q.E.W. at Bronte Road and Third Line and good bus connections to the Bronte GO Station which is in the neighbourhood. New residents are also drawn to West Oakville for its easy access to the small town atmosphere of Bronte Village and to the lakeside recreational opportunities at Bronte Harbour.
North -South: Speers Road to Rebecca Street. East - West: Dorval Drive to Bronte Creek.
