Welcome to Southwest Oakville
Southwest Oakville developed over many years with original lakefront estates in the 1920's and 1930's; to newer infill behind them up to Lakeshore taking place between the 1940's and the 1960's; and with even newer subdivisions of two storey homes built in the 1950s and 1960s north of Coronation Park up to Rebecca. The predominant theme in all areas is large lots and a focus on the natural environment. Southwest Oakville is one of Oakville's most exclusive areas. Many of the older ranch bungalows on large 75' x 150' lots have been replaced with custom luxury homes and infill subdivisions of estate homes have been developed on the various remnant lakefront estate parcels.
The Peter Gilgan Oakville YMCA is a fabulous recreational facility located on Rebecca a few blocks west of Dorval. Access to the lakefront is available at the 24 acre Coronation Park, with splash pad, large picnic areas and a stage that is the venue for many summer festivals. Also in the community is Appleby College, a private school with a beautiful 60 acre lakeside campus, with the school also hosting many summer camps open to public registration. Southwest Oakville is served by both the Kerr Street Village and Lakeshore Road West retail strips for all its local shopping needs. Quick access to the Q.E.W. is available from either Third Line or Dorval Drive.
North - South: Rebecca Street to Lake Ontario. East - West: Dorval Drive to Third Line.
