Welcome to Glen Abbey
Glen Abbey is a large north Oakville community developed in phases during the 1980's and 1990's. The planning framework for the neighbourhood - ring roads with walking trails integrating the community centre, school sites, parks and playing fields was innovative for the time and much admired by urban planners. The neighbourhood is very large and offers a diverse range of housing types and styles from entry level condo apartments to luxury detached homes adjacent to the Glen Abbey Golf Course. The appeal of this area is well established, with its winding streets, relatively large lots and broad tree-lined streetscapes. Many of the homes and townhomes have been renovated to modern style standards and that is a continuing trend.
The Glen Abbey Recreation Centre provides fitness, sports programming, indoor skating and indoor swimming facilities at the heart of the community on Third Line just south of Upper Middle Road, with the Glen Abbey Branch Library at the same site. The Glen Abbey Golf Club is located on the neighbourhoods eastern edge, between Dorval Drive and the Sixteen Mile Creek valley. Two major local shopping areas are located at Dorval Crossing, on both sides of Dorval Drive at North Service Road. Convenience shopping is available at the Abbey Plaza at Third Line and Upper Middle Road. Glen Abbey also is home to the well-known Monastery Bakery and Delicatessen.
North - South: Dundas Street to Upper Middle Road. East - West: Sixteen Mile Creek to Third Line. Next Update: end of Qtr 3.
