Welcome to Ford

The Ford community was developed starting in the 1960's and ending in the early 1980's and is entirely comprised of single-family detached homes. There is a broad mix of the prevailing housing styles of those decades, from smaller bungalows and side splits on moderate sized lots at the north end close to Cornwall; moving southward, where the lot sizes are larger, into sprawling ranch bungalows and two storey homes; and including many expansive custom homes and estates along the lakefront. Ford has and will continue to undergo significant transformation as buyers extensively renovate older two storey homes and replace smaller homes on large lots with custom homes.

The neighbourhood's location at Oakville's easterly boundary with quick access to the Q.E.W. and the Clarkson GO Station adds significantly to the neighbourhood's draw. The Ford schools are well ranked and also add to the area's appeal. Local shopping is concentrated at the Maple Grove Village shopping centre located at Maple Grove and Cornwall, with professional and personal services also widely available along Cornwall Road. Recreational facilities in the neighbourhood are limited to the Maple Grove Arena and the Canlan Ice Sports facility. The Ontario Racquet Clubon Southdown Road, is the area's closest fitness and racquets club.
